Traveling Woman Shawl
Melanie Smith Boise , Idaho
1st Place Winner of $30 Spinderella Cash AND
GRAND PRIZE WINNER OVERALL - $100 in Spinderella Cash !!!
Of course I love to spin Spinderella thrums.
I just fell in love with Peace Fleece as it is a really cool color mix.
In some lights its blue but in others its purple.
I used my Schacht Matchless ST on the fast whorl to spin a 2 ply at 13 wpi, or a light fingering yarn.
As I was spinning the thrum I was thinking of something light and airy.
So once my two ply yarn was complete I looking around on Ravelry for just the right pattern.
I think Traveling Woman by Liz Abinante fit the bill.
I wanted to use all my yarn so I did make it a bit longer by adding repeats. |

Celtic Wedding Socks
Anne Carroll Gilmore Park City, Utah
1st Place Winner of $30 Spinderella Cash
This is a pair of Kilt Hose I designed & knit for my husband of wool from our flock of CorriedalexRomney sheep,
that you processed for me 2 years ago (I have sent all of my wool to you for the last 8 years & you always do a fabulous job with it- thank you soooo much!)
They are called 'He mo Leanan' Kilt Hose (means hey my love Gaidhlig) & I was just informed that this pattern will be included in a new book coming out next year called 'Favourite Socks from Around the World'.
I spun this 3-ply dk weight, with supported long draw technique. I have made several pair of Kilt Hose for my beloved over the years but these are his new favourites .
They have special meaning to me because I used the knot from our wedding bands as the main cable/knotwork motif & I always feel happy when he wears them, a true labour of love. |

This shawl was made from alpaca fiber processed by Spinderella from Jacob's Reward Farm.
A friend of mine is a new spinner and she used the alpaca, some shetland and a little angora bunny to
spin up this super soft yarn which I used to knit up this pretty shawl. This pattern is Haruni and is available free, on Ravelry.
The yarn is very soft and the shawl is awesome to wear. |

Wedding Blanket
Robin Ohlgren Moscow, ID
1st Place Winner of $30 Spinderella Cash
This blanket project was done by the members of my spinning group, who have been gathering in each others' living
rooms each Tuesday night for twenty years. A member of our group had recently moved away and was getting married,
so we chose to honor her commitment to our craft and her marriage with a nuptial blanket.
The fleece was chosen at the annual shearing of a fellow HHH member and local shepherdess.
Each member knitted a 3-to-5-inch panel, using the pattern of her choosing.
The result was a stunning collaboration and meaningful gift. |
Most UNIQUE Item entered in the Contest
Gwens's Kitty Sweater
Julie Sprague Westford, MA
MOST UNIQUE ITEM - Winner of $50 Spinderella Cash
Gwen is 15 and was diagnosed with kidney disease in January '08.
She has to go to the vet every couple weeks for fluids which help keep her hydrated.
In the fall when temperatures began to drop I noticed her shivering in her carrier while we waited for our
appointment and decided a little vest was in order. She seems to enjoy the extra warmth and does not fuss
about having the vest put on but is pretty vocal about having it taken off.
