Spinderella's Fiber Casserole's

A Recipe for FUN!!!!

  • Gather wool, alpaca, llama and any fiber you can find
  • Separate fibers into colors from light to dark and in between
  • Get your dye pots out- fill with water, vinegar and dye - bring to a boil
  • Add lots and lots of fiber to the dye pot, not just light colors, to to point wherethe dyed water may overflow onto the stove
  • Shut off heat and let sit for 45 minutes, undisutrbed, or until dye is exhausted.
  • Now comes the surprise.... take pot to large sink- dump pot, squeeze and put fiber into soapy hot water - DO NOT STIR!!! Hope the dye has split into lots of shades of the original color.
  • Rinse and place on a drying rack
  • Take dried dyed fibers and toss together like a salad - DO NOT BLEND WELL!!!!
  • Put them into bags and take to Meriwether and beg to be carded into roving.
  • Card fibers into roving and watch the colors move!
  • Take to spinning wheel and spin into a FUN FUN FUN yarn-

Some of the bumps blended together in some places, but most of the time the colors change often. If consistancy is what you like the best- we say RUN- do NOT walk to another website- where you will be much better off. If running with sissors or flying by the seat of your pants is you- then our fibers may be just what you are looking for.

Contents of fibers is: Soft wool, alpaca, mohair, llama mostly. Percentages? We have NO IDEA! But we know these fibers feel and look wonderful together.
